Thanks for the advice. We decided we will just pay the $5 a day roaming charges. I think it will be enough. I might buy an extra GB of data to be on the safe side. The hotel has free wireless in Rome at least, and the company we are going to Milan with has said free Wifi at the other hotel.

You only need to buy extra data when you run out works the same as if you are in NZ
