Looks good - +1 on adding more information density.

Having Facebook only is good, it links a real identity to the goods, add a rating system on top (links to facebook id).

SellShed: Hi reven,

Thanks for your feedback.

We are adding more login options in the coming weeks.

Thanks

... but why require logging in just to even view items? Surely you're immediately limiting the numbers of people willing to engage with your site if you continue to require logging in to even view, however many different log-in options you provide. It just places one more (unnecessary) hurdle for the user to engage.

Personally, I'm unlikely to touch this site should you continue this policy. I can view all items for sale/auction on TM, eBay, Amazon etc without having to log in prior - why should your site operate any differently?

loceff13: It's rather impressive, still going to be a wild west like the hustle live pages and scams I imagine

Hi loceff13,

Thanks for the feedback.

We have built a reputation system into SellShed where buyers can rate sellers.
We also have a feature where our members can report any posts to admin for us to investigate.
Plus, we have 1 full time and 1 part time admin person who check every listing.

All for safety and peace of mind.

Thanks

We require people to login to keep our members safe and thats very important to SellShed. We want all of our members to know who they are dealing with.
Our site operates in a different way to any trading site.

Thanks for your feedback

Lurch: Will be giving it a miss. Don't want to use my Facebook log on, and how about some WP8 love? Will be sticking with Ebay, WP8 app and no forced Facebook nonsense.

Hi Lurch.

Thanks for the feedback.

We are implementing alternative logins over the next few weeks.

Thanks

gzt: It is good to see you will deliver other login options and look forward to seeing the full functionality delivered outside facebook as well. Inside facebook exclusively I would be unlikely to use it. I have a facebook account but I don't live there ; ).

Great,

Thanks for the feedback

mattwnz: Looks good. The facebook page though is really just a noise of postings, so not easy to find stuff. Perhaps if it was focused more to the buyer, where a buyer posts what they are looking for, and the sellers then can tender with their item.

Hi mattwnz.

Thats how the Wanted function works.
Please check it out, I'd love your feedback,

Thanks

stevenz: Given that TM's fees have become somewhat excessive, a "free" option seems like a good alternative but I do wonder what the long term business model is as a result.

The site is very "big" which makes it a little hard to sift through results for a specific item on the site (Around half of which seem to be listed by the same person).

Edit: Just got a notification on my Android device that "SellShed is available from the Play store". Doesn't look like that's actually the case.

Hi stevenz,

Thanks for your feedback!

We have a search function where users can search for items that they want. We are creating an algorithm to enhance the search function.

Our android version is still in development so not sure why you would have gotten that notification.....

Facebook was probably the easiest way to allow for logging in at the time and hundreds of thousands use it.  I'm not for logging in to anything foreign with my Facebook account either, but they've already mentioned more login methods are being added soon.

Scams and shady deals are always an issue, even today with EBay and TradeMe.  I am subscribed to a lot of the "deals" pages on Facebook and a lot of obviously stolen goods as well as drugs come up on a regular basis.  I would hope SellShed would add an extra layer of security over the current wild west system that is posting goods on a page and getting people to PM you.  An address verification and feedback system would give the users a better idea regarding previous transactions on a platform everyone already uses.

I sound like a fanboy already, but I honestly think this is the best approach I've seen in a very long time...To the point where I wish I had thought of it. :|

Thanks for your feedback again DravidDavid,

Just incase you didn't read my reply on security, I have copied it and will paste it below for you. I value your feedback so keep it coming if you like :)

Mabey i've been using TradeMe to long, or Facebook not enough (in fact I despise Facebook and refuse to use it). Anyway I had a quick look and decided it looked to hard to use.

Perhaps we need something almost just like TradeMe with a nice clean simple interface.....and most importantly substantially lower fees. Keep it Kiwi Owned to keep costs down unlike TradeMe that sold out to Fairfax and are using it as a money making machine.

Hi heylinb4nz,

Thanks for your feedback.

Our app was designed to be easy to use with a Facebook like browse stream.
We are 100% Kiwi owned with no listing fees and no success fees.

Thanks

Don't like the idea of any apps interacting with FB. Although this seems to be growing trend, I don't use FB that often, it's good to have for keeping in touch now and then. I refuse to use it for competitions, forums, apps etc.

Ebay would have to be the best auction site, scams are few and there is a double protection with Ebay + Paypal. The amount of content is huge, there are many items on Ebay that are not obtainable locally. The prices are also about half that of what I find on Trademe and shipping is always free. 5 to 7 day wait is the only downside.

The WP8 app is great too and no signing up if you just want to browse.

I should be able to see the listings on sellshed without logging in, I don't see the security issue with viewing a listing. A user database grab? Let's see how many people we can sign up?

Me, personally? If a service offers me the option of sign in with email or any id service (Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft, Google), I go with email.

First because I rather not have those services knowing EVERY account I have. Second because if one account is compromised then EVERYTHING goes.

Every service I use is a different password and some have different emails. Where possible I use 2FA. And where possible I don't sign up...

Hi Lurch,

Thanks for your feedback.

We are creating a unique platform. We aren't trying to be like anyone else.

Protecting our members is a very high priority for SellShed.
We have started a community of people who feel safe to interact with one another in their local communities and we are protecting their privacy
By only having a Facebook login for now. We are also making it easy to sign up. Once we add other login methods, we will require a lot of information on the
person which will take some time to fill in.  On SellShed, people will know exactly who they are trading with. No Avatars, no aliases, just real people.

If you have more feedback, we're here to help.

Thanks
