And a lot of riots, fights, expense to the taxpayer etc etc just to see which group of people can hit or kick a ball better than another group in return for $250,000 a week whilst actually useful people like scientists, surgeons etc earn about 5% of that.
If ever there was an overpaid job, it isn't being a CEO it's being a sportsman.
I am not aware of a Kiwi Sports Person being paid that kind of money in our sporting history, not even for one week.
It's a comment on sports people as a breed not specifically their nationality.
Plenty of European footballers earn that kind of money, for example - or racing drivers in F1 etc.
To be fair to racing drivers, at least they risk death which makes it vaguely exciting.
