TLD: I can't find a local supplier for the LaCrosse charger, but Amazon has them for US$60. I just ordered two of them — NZ$160 with shipping.
timmmay: I use the white eneloops. With Maha C801D you can just swap a standard power cable in (the little figure 8 one from memory), the C9000 from memory has a plug pack. You'd probably just need the physical adapter, most work with 110/230V.

gnfb: came acros these on amazon so USDPowerex Maha MH-C801D Eight Cell 1-Hr PRO AA/AAA Charger$62.95Sold by: Outdoor Photo GearAdd gift options
Delverded price comes out at $111 NZD
This guy seems to be the cheapest for the maha stuff please correct me if there is a alternative
http://ecobatteries.co.nz/prices.html
He is cheaper than recharged.co.nz although his range is smaller and he charges for some things that are included with recharged. For example He only has PowerEx in AA, everything else is Imedion (not necessarily bad). Also all my batteries from recharged have come in the plastic holders, he sells them separate. They're actually very handy.

I'm interested in how you are using them? Are you talking about single AA for phantom power in something like an NTG2, or transmit/ receive power in something like a Sennheiser G2 or G3? I must admit I've never really looked into it, but I always use reasonable quality alkaline in all my sound gear from phantom power through wireless and including my field mixer. I even use alkaline in my Pocket Wizards, and this is despite having heaps of rechargeable batteries.
I think I'll go ask the lads on DVInfo, because if they work OK, it would definitely work out way cheaper, but I'm thinking it would compromise battery life.

Borrowed the Maha C9000 from Timmmay during this weekend - still going through the last four batteries but as expected all my old Energizer batteries are basically good as dead - all rsulted in "HIGH" status (meaning high internal resistance, good for disposal). Also a couple of Panasonic AAA had the same results.
A couple of Enitime batteries are still good - taking them through a cycle now. The Eneloop batteries I have have here all tested well and are charging as well.
Now to get a few Eneloop AAA for the Amazon Fire TV remote (the only electronic here using AAA really).

Sometimes if you put the batteries into a "dumb" charger it will force charge in and wake them up, but there's a risk to that.
If you have a good charger and refresh your calls every so often (6 months/10th charge) they last aaaaaggeess.

These cells are probably around eight years old now... Not worth it the time I think.
I've just bought a pack of eight Eneloops last month so that will be a good "refresh".

I managed 5-6 years with good treatment, but they were well used in high powered flashes. At 8 years they're ready for the bin.
