keewee01: Dear Mr Geektastic,

We are happy to hear that your package has arrived, and in record time!

We are very sad to report though that 3 hampsters, 1 pigeon and a rat were killed/died/misplaced in the duty of delivering your package, but at least the dolphins survived intact.

As your package has arrived we have despatch new hampsters out to the branches to alert them that they can now cease searching for your package and return all the original hampsters back to base.

We are still missing 2 hampsters, so if they are still tied to your package we would be most grateful if you could please release them and point them in our direction.

Our gestetner is now working again so we are all franticly catching up on our xeroxing whilst enjoying the delightful fumes coming off the pages...

Thanks again for using our excellant service.

Kind Regards,
NZ Couriers

Random fact..my father used to go pheasant shooting with the Gestetner family! As kids we got taken along and roped into beating.

Back when I were a lad at prep school, running about with grazed knees in grey flannel shorts, our Senior Common Room held one for the masters to make quizzes (I think it was a Roneo but same idea).

Ah, the smell of those quiz sheets! I can still recall it. Along with the sting of a slap on the knuckles with a ruler for daydreaming in class....!

Jaxson: Last week we went to collect and found the depot hours were now shorter than shown online and in the end it was for a $1.27 package from banggood china, that didn't have anything special about it that required a signature.

Those sorts of sellers always seem to send items via registered mail, which requires a signature upon receipt. It's annoying to say the least.

It is really annoying, but its to do with the way that things are sent by weight over there. If they want to do non tracked it has to be bagged seperatly with different labels affixed etc, and if they are mainly selling tracked things its not worth their time to sort out the low value ones, at the weight they are its stuff all difference in price.

Until recently weight was the only measure used in the UK too. I think that since we left the size has become a factor, but it never used to be.

What perplexes me the most is the complexity of the post/courier system in NZ. In the UK if you send something to someone who lives on a farm, you just address it and send it and the Royal Mail deliver it. There is no strange extra tier of 'rural delivery' (which costs the users annually by the way) to confuse matters and add to processing inefficiency. We pay for RD services (as opposed to normal urban post which is free to the recipient) but they generally seem to complicate matters no end.

My parcel went NZ Couriers to Wellington. Then NZ Couriers to Palmerston North. Then NZ Couriers to Masterton. Then Post Haste couriers to Martinborough where I intervened and picked it up direct - but had I not, it would have been given to the RD postman to carry 2000 metres to my house the next day.

By any measure that is extremely inefficient. Three different couriers and 4 drop offs.

As a comparison to NZ Couriers and their apparent inability to track anything properly, this is the USPS tracking for an item en route to me now as a comparison! THIS is the simple level of tracking I expect when I send anything anywhere by courier.

I've never had a problem with a courier.
Are you guys & girls sure you know how to use them properly?

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS

I recently had a package sent from Australia (replacement Kinect) via UPS I happened to check its whereabouts approx. 10 minutes before it was delivered and it was saying that the package was in their Auckland Depot.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

USPS and UPS are different companies.
