networkn: I'd like to know how to tell before eating an apple, if it's crisp. I hate HATE *HATE* mushy Apples.
Generally if it is very firm it will be crisp. However Super Market apples maybe firm in the shop but a few hours later are yuck as these have come from coolers and were probably picked months earlier. This is why we buy apples in the likes of the Hawkes Bay but ultimately decided to grow our own.
