I'm playing devils advocate now, but I for one am thankful most insurance companies pay out more often when you need it as it seems the same can't be said about flu vaccines:

Well I'll be darned. It was 19% when you posted that (I looked), but it's now sitting at 23%. What a difference a day makes.

Since we're quoting the CDC now: "Who should get vaccinated this season? Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season."

I always get the flu jab. I have asthma so it's free. I have only had a genuine (diagnosed) flu twice, and both times I had forgotten to get vaccinated. The flu is awful.

I find if I get the flu jab and keep taking my daily multi I get no flu sand very few colds. In addition to the specific immunity against dominant flu strain(s) I think the vaccine generally stimulates the immune system.

Although, i thought it was more common respiratory infections as opposed to flu.

Bay of Plenty schools and hospitals are being hit with a surge in flu cases.

Tauranga and Whakatane hospitals have seen at least 96 patients with suspected influenza respiratory syncytial virus this week.

Some infected people are being treated in the same room as others with the illness and masks are being worn by anyone within three metres of a patient. This is normal process for infectious disease management.

District health board infectious disease specialist Diane Hanfelt-Goade said there has been an early onset to the influenza and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) season, and the Bay of Plenty seemed to have been particularly hard hit.

Prevention/transmission is important factor:

This makes it very important to keep your hands germ-free with frequent and thorough hand washing. Encourage family members to do the same to stay well and prevent flu."

WebMD is too polite to directly mention nose picking.

Just to chime in also. I've had a cold for about two weeks. Also got swollen lymph nodes. I don't know if they're related.

A "spike on a spike" of winter sicknesses is pushing some Tauranga health services to the limit with one centre seeing three times more patients than usual. Accident and Healthcare on Second Ave had about 400 patients last weekend, triple its normal load, and people unable to see their GP have been turning up at Tauranga Hospital's Emergency Department. Western Bay of Plenty Primary Health Organisation chief executive Roger Taylor said the region's health bodies were collaborating to manage a "spike on a spike" of winter illnesses.

Ive had a cold for over a week now.

Aweful one because its not bad enough to just sleep thru everything so BOREDOM!!! Seems cyclic, few hours feel amost fine, then bad, then terrible, so back to bed, then sleep then repeat.
