Ive bought a couple of cheap android phones off there. Work as expected for the rubbish mediatek chipset. No problems with them.

Im tempted to get a tablet since it seems that locally the cheap androids are marked up absurd amounts, but the OPs post has made me re-think that slightly.

There are 5 options to buy. Cant tell what they are.

The listing looks like a copy and paste mess.

AliExpress is pretty much Wild West.

Nevertheless, I've bought a lot of small stuff there.

One thing to watch: Items which appear to be "Free Shipping" but aren't. My policy on this is to challenge the seller... typically they'll reduce the price to make the shipping actually free.

Caveat Emptor.

I've probably purchased more or less a hundred items from Aliexpress.
A few of those purchases is out of my curiosity just to try the idea and not for actual use.  I don't trust its quality. (eg. a $2 remote controlled mains power socket -- I've tested it a few times and it works but no way I'm going to put it into real use.  I bought a similar thing from Jaycar for $30 after I was convinced with the idea).

There was only one instance where the seller's description didn't exactly match the item I received.  I filed a dispute on AliExpress.  The seller corresponded initially but didn't respond on succeeding messages.  Eventually, AliExpress refunded the cost of the item 100%.  The seller is still selling the same item with the wrong description.

The problem with aliexpress is the prices just go up and up and up on there as they see what they can get away with.

Compare the same things on taobao (just use chrome to browse) and you will be amazed at what the profits that even the dropshippers on aliexpress are making.

Ive bought a few things off there.  My last couple of purchases have been a Cube i6 Air 3G Windows/Android Tablet which cost me $270NZ landed.  Amazing tablet for the money, use it every day, quick, well built, great battery life, would like a bigger hdd but oh well.  And i bought a SPDIF Coax to Optical converter (or was it the other way around, cant remember).  Found a couple for sale here for 3 times the price.

Only issues Ive ever had is with communication with the sellers, you ask a question and you get a totally generic answer back for everything which leads me to believe half of them dont actually know any English.  Not a biggie though.  Like on the tablet I asked how to switch Android to English from Chinese.  I was told I can switch it from Chinese to English.  Ended up finding a video with what buttons to press :p

I purchase things from Ebay, and if I have an issue my sellers always resend me the right item as they're scared they'll be left bad feedback.  This is usually small items like PCI cards or cables etc.

It must be good! Did you see the picture with the exploded view of the case? It doesn't have a case, it has an 'integrally fuselage'!! laughing

Also, 2048x1536 resolution on a cheapo Z3735x tablet? Pull the other one!

A chap I worked with bought a box full of iPhone cases off Ali Express a year ot so ago - they worked out to be a few cents each and he sold them on TM for about $10 a pop, so it was quite good returns - but the quality was all over the place.
Some cases were like the real thing (knock-offs of well known brands) and some were just appalling and had to be thrown away due to horrible manufacturing defects and an inability to fit on a phone.

When you pay very small amounts of money for what is normally a fairly costly item, you get what you are given...

Caveat Emptor on Ali Express...
