No reception round here.
Data can come from wifi as well as cellular, so not sure why they would be irrelevent. Also the great thing with a mobile phone is it goes with you to other places, not like those stupid landline phones.
Living on the top of a hill we are lucky enough to get a wireless connection from a mast in the distance but you need line of sight. There are plenty of people who are in dips or behind hills who aren't so lucky and still on dial up.
However it's a lifestyle choice. I'd rather live where I do with a slow but usable internet connection than have neighbours.
Apparently Elon Musk is launching a whole lot of low alt satellites that will use LiFi ( light) and lazers between each other.
So this might change the ISP model we have come to know and ....use
