As an ex brit (10 yrs now) I want them to leave. As another poster said we were conned by that slimy b*****d Heath.

However I think the vote may be to stay. Many voting won't have known life without being in the EU and will vote for the apparently safe option to stay. The FUD being distributed by the stay campaigners will have an effect as well.

A close vote will be the worst of all results. A large proportion of the population will be extremely p****d off as it's a very emotive issue in the UK. I'd rather see the stay camp win by a large margin than have a close result.

I can, however, see the current form of the EU disintegrating because of major disagreements among member states. Also if Merkel and her French counterpart were replaced with more euro sceptical politicians the picture would be completely different.

Now now. We have 11 ships. That's almost as many as the number of fixed wing aircraft in the RNZAF.

I have to say that applying logic, it seems to me that the NZ forces would be better either

1) Merged into a combat force akin to the USMC (i.e. combined land, sea and air)

2) Merged into a force akin to the US Coast Guard (i.e. air and sea within NZ waters) and we just give up the idea of participating in conflicts overseas

RNZAF has 28 Fixed wing and 17 Rotary winged aircraft

I don't know why the US doesn't try and absorb Mexico. Give Mexicans unlimited access across the border, and let Americans buy up Mexican property (I have no idea if non Mexicans can buy property in Mexico or not).

It will be annexing by stealth.

Edit. I've just looked at wiki. Mexico has 122m people. That is rather a lot, that could be quite the burden on an economy. Or it would be great access to cheap labour.
