We have recently returned to Genesis after a time with Trustpower. Never had issues with Genesis and their pricing is on par. Have no time for the likes of Powershop or Flick too much messing about and with recent changes in the spot market they are a risk.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Contact Energy can supply electricity OK, but when things go a little bit wrong they are unbelievably incompetent.  They installed a smart meter in my house which didn't work.  For 8 months they billed me on a steadily reducing estimated consumption.  Thinking it was my energy conservation efforts paying off I didn't realise what was going on.  It took another three months of pestering them and several abortive meetings at my house before a guy finally turned up to fix the thing.

Then I got hit with a massive catch-up bill, effectively became a Contact Energy bad debtor with all the crap associated with that, and of course I couldn't change suppliers until every last cent was paid off.  That was after 20+ years as a customer with DD payments!

Interestingly Contacts T&C's don't require them to read your meter at any particular interval, but I think accurate and punctual metering and billing are what their business is about, and in my case they fail miserably.

Same, I have not enjoyed being a Contact customer (gas) after being with them for 10+ years I got the same kind of shennanigans.

At the other end of the scale, Meridian I have always found pleasant and easy to deal with.
