Sigh, click bait ...
old3eyes:MikeB4:Personally I think Mike Hoskings, Paul Henry are both self indulged with heavily over inflatted beliefs in their importance and knowledge and are helping greatly the demise of broadcast free to air TV in NZ with their soap opera pseudo current affairs shows.
That's because they don't conform to the same PC outlook of the world that you hold..
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I personally can't stand Mike Hosking.
But, a petition is childish.
Some people have too much spare time .
That is why these petitions are left leaning....

I think there is a perception that certain broadcasters favour the "rich" (represented by right-wing parties such as National and Act) and others favour those who are struggling to get enough money to pay all the bills (represented by parties such as Labour and the Greens).
But it's a difficult job for a presenter to come across as entirely unbiased and independent of politics and overall I think they do a reasonable job in exploring issues that are both in favour of, and against, the ruling political party.
Fred
You've missed my point entirely. There ARE no right wing parties in New Zealand, just as there are no left wing ones. They're all centrist, and just a whiff either side is as far as you can go...
Well there actually are both, just (at present) not registered. There's (at least) the National Front on the hard right, and the Communist League (formerly Socialist Action) on the hard left.
I'm not sure if the NF had any (electorate) candidates in the 2014 general election, but the CL did. Unregistered parties don't contest list seats. CL usually also contests the Akl mayoralty. I know the candidate well.

Say what now?
Actually I was generalising that a lot of left wing petition signers don't have jobs, in a similar vein that a lot of right wing non-petition signers are rich and buddy-buddy with the USA for the detriment of the whole world.
Both posts were tongue in check.

reminds me of a pic in my facebook feed
Reminds me of why I ignore 99% of my facebook feed.
There's a parallel between "news & current affairs" being presented by vacuous morons like Hosking, and a complex world being reduced to trite memes and facebook likes.

The only thing I REALLY object to, is that our taxes are paying for that show, and that in itself is reason enough to demand an unbiased opinion from it's presenters. If they cannot do that, and clearly Hosking can't, then they need to go.
Your taxes do not, repeat, DO NOT pay for that show.
As for the petition, there's a strange group of people whom if they don't like what someone has to say, they think the solution is to force that person into silence and cost them their job. I think that's just nuts. These are the same people who insist on tolerance but struggle to show it themselves.
Finch: Seema silly. He hasn't committed any crimes. If you don't like him or the show, then don't watch. If the entire country doesn't watch the show will be gone
Edit: Personally I don't like him or his views, but he should stay.
I agree, except for the point that he's being paid to do that job by the taxpayer. Perhaps arguably people should be going after his employers, then, for both employing such a hateful person in the first place, and for wasting public money on that dross generally.

Well, if they are getting the 300-odd thousand viewers quoted earlier, maybe it's making the public money?
TVNZ made $12.7 M in the 6 months to December (although this will be in a continual fall as the market fragments)
