Why has a 7 year old thread been reactivated?

Because we are apparently grumpy old men and are now reliving our best years ?

floydbloke:

  • someone trying to stop me on the street to extract money from me when I'm on my way to the shop to buy a pie
  • having to get off the couch when I'm watchin cricket because there's someone at the door who wants to convince me their invisible friend is better than someone else's

I get really angry about these two because they are disruptive, and anyone who thinks they can suddenly make me drop what I'm doing so they can waste my time will get an extremely rude response.

I don't think windscreen flyers are in the same league. Sure, they're annoying, but they're not significantly disruptive.

What if you don't notice one and then it flies up against your windscreen as you are driving and obscures the pedestrian in front of you?

What if the flyer is for a local A&E clinic?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Get in car, go to drive, then hopefully see the crap under the wiper and decide if you get out to remove it or hope you dont need the wiper till you get to where you are going. Its a safety thing tampering with vehicle features and should be prosecuted as such.

My issue with them is the risk of potentially causing damage to the car as my blades hit the back of the bonnet when pulled up manually. Plus it may cause the built in car alarm to be activated.

But it also gives me a sense of panic that I have received an infringement for some reason, or someone has damaged my car and left a note. So I blacklist any company that does this. People shouldn't need to put a 'no junk mail sticker' on their windscreen.
