jonathan18: Well, the Volere ones from Briscoes have no plug, silicon or otherwise, so essentially need to be hand-washed (and done so carefully) so as to avoid the void getting some water in it! Of course, with two scungy boys, it’s inevitable this happens and it’s a real b!tch removing the water. I keep on meaning to put a drop of glue gun glue on the hole to see if that works - does it need to remain open at all, or can it be completely sealed?

We have bought several of the Volere double wall glasses from Briscoes, and all have the silicon plug on the bottom, and all go in the dishwasher (as per website and manufacturer) without any problems. Like most glass items they do not like being dropped. I would suggest yours may have been faulty? or may have had the plug removed by someone hand washing it over-vigorously at some point?

The smaller double wall glass ones we have are "Avanti" and seem to me to be better quality than Bodum and so far none have leaked/gone cloudy.

Here you go:

2 x 400ml for $20

2 x 250ml for just over $15

Oh wait - that's an Aussie site - damn - but they will ship to NZ - and those prices are NZD. I like those 250ml ones - about the right size for my preferred double shot flat white and with the shape, less likely to slip out of my butter-fingers.

A 350ml one would be perfect for a cold 335ml stubbie of beer on a hot day. Or for poms - they'd keep ale warm in winter. Yay - they have them - I might put an order through, but I'll check a local stockist first.

I think the Avanti glasses we bought locally were from Asko Design, but despite that being a more upmarket store than Briscoes, I don't think they were very expensive.

Edit - I just loaded up the cart for 6 x 350ml beer glasses and 6 of the 250ml coffee cups, DHL 4-10 day shipping incl insurance = NZD $43, total about $142 - which is less than NZ$12 per glass. Paypal accepted. The local supplier would need a sharp pencil to compete with that I think, but I'll have a look next time I'm passing. They don't seem to even have a website.

Well I finally took delivery of my keep cup long play (the double walled version) in 340ml size. Detailing in very dark grey.

Coffees just got cheaper by $0.20 each

Payback under one year.

Edit: 'finally' above refers to me repeatedly forgetting to into courier post and collect the parcel.
