gzt: Without trying I'll be around 40. Excuse: too many keyboards ; ).

Scores over 100 - what is your secret?

All fingers in the correct place on the keyboard, then look ahead and read the sentence not just the word, if you know what I mean. :-)

When I first got into graphic design I worked for a trading magazine that had a call centre. We had this guy who had no arms.

He was one hell of a typist with his feet!

This dude was incredible.

He had a chair with special foot-rests with pointers on the end. His keyboard was beneath him and work station had two mirrors that bounced and the image of his feet back up to near eye level.

He'd take calls via his headset. Absolutely brilliant! And he'd keep up with all the other operators in the room. Helluva guy.

85wpm and 97% accuracy, but I have had a few beers tonight so I will try it again when I'm a bit sharper!

92wpm and 97% accuracy when drinking tea instead of beer!

86wpm / 98% on first go, and I'm tired and yawning at this point.

I've got a bit of a weird typing method, too, three fingers on each hand for all letters, little fingers from either hand for modifiers, and thumb on right hand for the space bar exclusively. Self taught playing terrible MMO games as a youngin' unfortunately.

Wow, you guys are good. Mine was 34 at 99% accuracy. Fast enough for comments on Geekzone but that's about all.

About 40 is the best I can manage whilst having to read it on the screen in front of me.

However, if I had actually wanted to be a secretary, I would have trained as one...!

One thing I find that can throw my typing out (and bear in mind it took me at least 20 years to learn how to type without looking at the keyboard!) is a slight shift in the position of the keyboard on the desk in relation to my hands. All of a sudden I will be typing utter nonsense like sshhdh whernnnn icier sjje!

What I'd be truly interested in is seeing some of the results people get on mobile - I know I seem to type glacially slower on my phone versus a real keyboard, and rely heavily on autocorrect.

I used to be reasonably fast with two fingers when I was a working writer but in my old age nearly every word has at least one typo in it. I miss keys, hit wrong keys, hit double keys and even when the strikes are perfect my ageing brain transposes letters. I would be lost without a spell checker to pick up the typos, and even then I often manage to create a typo that is a real word so doesn't get picked up, though it makes no sense. I carefully proofread everything I post and I still miss stuff. No way am I about to submit myself to the humiliation of a typing test.

I am hopeless on my phone. If I need to type more than a few words then I either use Siri dictation, or just go to my laptop and do my typing on that.

I have a friend who i swear has some sort of though transfer system with her phone - takes me 30s to send a decent message, she replies with 3x the amount Ive typed in less than 10s inc transmission time :D

Whenever I text on a non-smartphone there is a lot of swearing (either silent or out loud). I never learned how to do it properly. Smartphone is for me, a 100x easier.
