@taubin every Amazon link goes through that.over the years people would post links they found in other sites, without knowing these had affiliate links for other people. The service we use make sure all Amazon links are tagged with our own code.

Thanks guys, I hadn't realized, it just looked a bit dodgy not knowing that was the case. Cheers.

Amazon referral links don’t cost the buyer anything more anyway?

It wasn't that it was an amazon referral, it was the buy.geni.us link that gave me pause. I don't mind amazon affiliate links, it's when they go through other sites on their way to amazon that looks dodgy was all. Now that it's been explained, it clears up why it's that way. I'm just always suspicious when any link goes through a redirection on another site instead of straight to where they are ending.

No, they do not cost more.

Once I forgot my Parker "Jotter" blue ballpen (about 9 US$) in the MET office on ground. This resulted in an "A/C-back-to-base" decision to get it back. This was the only moment I didn't take care of time and costs (which might be an insane ratio compared to the price I paid for the pen). Luckily this was a test flight and the unexpected "safety landing test" I finally approved as "passed" with that pen - for sure. laughing

Update!

The Pilot G2 Limited metal is perfect - just what I wanted. Chunky, solid, a good weight and writes really nicely.

The spacepen is..."Ok". Actually a little underwhelmed for the price, but it is decent enough.

Will be buying more of the G2 Limited - haven't seen them in NZ yet though, so might have to order another bunch from Amazon and stock up.

I have just ordered a G2 Pro from Amazon. My intention is not to use the pen itself but to replace the refill with a Schmidt 888 ceramic roller ball liquid in refill. (Also ordered from Amazon.)

I don't like gel pens and I find that liquid in suits me.

According to experts at theWirecutter.com. the best pen is the Uni Jetstream. Both Whitcoulls and Warehouse Stationery sell them and I can confirm that they are really nice to write with. So fast that they almost write too fast. smile

https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-pen/

I just had a go at all of the uni range of pens in my local warehouse stationary.

I preferred the liquid ink pens which was no surprise but what did surprise me was that I felt that the best choice was the uni-ball insight. At $3.99 it was by far the cheapest pen in the uni line up.

I bought two of those and two of the uni-ball air pens. Both in 0.7mm size. In the office, I tried them in comparison to one of my dwindling supply of Rottring Visupoints. The uni-ball insight was almost indistinguishable from the visupoint. The uni-ball air was better than a pilot liquid ink V ball that I had but some way behind the insight and visupoint.

My Amazon parcel just arrived.

I got a G2 Pro which came with a G2 gel ink refill.

I tried it back to back with the Uni-Ball Insight and a Rotring Visupoint. It was nasty and scratchy compared to those two.

I also got an Ohto Dude. That is a liquid ink pen with a ceramic roller ball. Much better than the G2 Pro but still not as smooth as the Uni Ball Insight so not a replacement for my Visupoints. That was a surprise because ceramic balls are supposedly better than tungsten carbide balls.

Last out of the box was a pack of Schmidt refills. Like the Ohto, these also use liquid ink and have a ceramic ball. (All of the others have Tungsten Carbide.) I put one of the Schmidt refills into the Pilot G2 Pro body and had a super surprise. It actually writes just a little better than the Rotring Visupoint so I have a new favourite pen and this one is still in production!

The Schmidt refills fit both the Pilot and Ohto pens. The former being a clicky while the Ohto has a traditional cap. The Schmidt refill is rated for use in either - liquid ink pens normally need a cap to prevent drying out. I intend to try one of the Schmidt refills in each pen and see if there is a difference.

As for the pen bodies, both are a lot larger and heavier than the Visupoints. The G2 Pro and Uniball Insight each weigh about the same as two Visupoints and the Ohto Dude weights about as much as the G2 Pro and Insight together.
