It's gross - tastes like cat food served up in a wet envelope. sealed

Each to their own. I liked it, and thought it was a good cheap meal while in America.

I noticed the original Carls Jr in Takanini has closed while up in Auckland the other week.

We are fairly saturated with burger choices, which is why taco bell might do OK.

I wonder if Del Taco will come here, or el pollo loco? Probably can't be bothered.

The Carls Jr that was on Constellation Drive (in the Caltex station) disappeared earlier this year too. Went to go there from work, and it was all papered up and gone. There is one at Albany though, so they were quite close together.

I seem to remember that Carls Jr, when launched, had two parent companies in NZ - One was Restaurant Brands, the other (which opened the Takanini one) was someone else. I wonder if it is still two parent companies here?

The Constellation Dr one closed as they're widening the motorway, apparently.

Building one - that road outside it that goes from SH1 up to the top was never the final motorway end for the new upper harbour one. Plenty of work going on there for the interchange etc. Will be good once that's all done.

Was Tauranga and Hamilton, now Hamilton only. It was meant to be a nationwide thing at one point?

We've eaten Taco Bell a few times living in Canada, and the occasional time when visiting in the states recently.

It's okay as a fast food, nothing more IMHO.

What's disturbing is that a whole generation of people are growing up thinking that it's actual Mexican food!

Just back from Aussie (Brisbane) and found a new-ish Taco Bell in the suburb of Annerley … just a couple of blocks from The Gaba.

We tried a couple of taco and burrito variations, but nothing special, and as people say it is imitation Mexican.  At least made with fresh ingredients, but nearly AU$10 a pop.

Sadly, Taco bell is more authentic mexican than anything you can currently get in New Zealand. eg, Mexicali tastes like plastic to me.

The nicest mexican eateries in Los Angeles, are those places that offer really fresh ingredients and avoid preservatives.

I guess Taco bell might fail on that, but it isn't too bad.
