Disappointed that a place that has offered great customer service is now owned by one that was dishonest enough to try selling people "shipping insurance" when placing orders to make sure that people got what they paid for.

And I just renewed a years primate 2 days ago when sending my twitter secret santa gift.

Let's not forget the ACCC recently handing it to them in court over increasing the retail price of products by about 40% immediately prior to kicking off a "30% off sale!"

Kicking myself for renewing Primates for a full year only a few weeks ago. Sighs.

Just hope the new owners will still honour existing voucher credit. I have $450 I've been saving to use towards a PS5 when it's eventually possible to order one.

Remember that Dick Smith gift voucher fiasco that happened a few years ago?

To be fair that was slightly different due to DS being bankrupt. But they got bankrupt by selling stuff from AliExpress at twice the price which is coincidentally Kogan's business model too ... So I wouldn't hold onto those vouchers for too long if I were you.

I've never used Mighty Ape as it always felt like a store front for some off-short company. Didn't realise it was a local outfit.

I hope nothing changes with them, they are one of my main stops whenever buying something online, they were awesome during the lockdowns for groceries.. still received essential intems within 2-3 days where if you were lucky enough to be able to place an order from a super market you were waiting over a week..

As someone mentioned before, their service was well worth the slight premium and their sales on quality products were always decent.

If anyone has been to their warehouse in Silverdale as well, its incredible.. It's absolutely massive! (they allow pickups from there) with an awesome chill out area while you wait... me and my boy were playing sega rally against each other our last visit.. for free!

Massive warehouse at Millwater where you can pickup if you like. The reception area is large, has some games to play, Lego and other models on display, and a couple of rooms off to one side they rent out to clubs. The Warhammer 40K people play in one there on Sundays. Once a month they do (or used to) have a day where you can pay $5 and most or all of the board games they stock are out for you to pick up and play as much as you want.

Kogan, however, just resells white-labelled AliExpress rubbish for twice what it costs on AliExpress.

Yeah. They've been saved all year for the PS5 but might have to use them sooner so I don't lose it all.

I don't see Kogan spending $127 million to blow the entire thing. They have been pretty succesful based on the fact they have purchased Mightyape with cash reserves.

Having said that, I am uneasy about the purchase. I didn't really rate the prior leadership team, they did some scummy things too like Banana Points being useless, however apparently at least Barton will stay on in NZ, so it will likely to be business as usual, with a push toward Kogan branded gear, and the profits going offshore.

I sincerely hope Kogan continue the Mighty Ape success. If it fails, which I doubt, we will be left with few alternatives. The last thing I want to see is Amazon as our alternative. I refuse to deal with Amazon for many reasons not least of which the  they mistreat their employees.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Never in all of recorded history have The New Management decided that "You know what? It's working great as it is" and decided not to change anything. I don't know maybe we'll get lucky and Kogan will change to match MightyApe rather than the other way around.
