Mine was back in 2000. I can't remember exactly but it took around two months back then. Good luck to current applicants.

@Sid72  This intrigues me.  What more info do they need on top of what you provided during the application process?

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

That's crossed my mind too.

There was a mention about an interview, wherein they'd need to cite the originals of the submitted documents.

Wow that sounds odd given they should have all of the information on record already.

BTW I saw an article the other day (on RNZ I think) that suggested the amount of applications has actually decreased and the delays are actually just a backlog caused by COIVID disruptions. Which is at odds with what I was told by my own DIA interactions.

Nothing much , it was just to confirm your personal details are correct like name, dob etc. I think thats the standard procedure they are following whosoever file is getting picked up.

I applied online in October 2020. Have heard nothing.

I wasn't aware you could apply in person.

BTW are you sure your friend only waited 3 months? Seems at odds with everyone else's experience - unless of course he knows someone who could pulls some strings.

Yes he got it in 3 month, they giving training new dia officer so any easy case they can pull from the new applications so they trying to melt the backlog i guess like this

Update for those following the timeline.

I just had my approval email and am waiting on the ceremony. I applied mid-September 2020. Other than a generic email asking for confirmation that my name and other details were correct, I had not other notifications or correspondence until an hour ago when I got my approval email.

Need to wait for a ceremony invite now
