I still can figure out why Microsoft is intentionally assigning most computers from more than 2-3 years ago to the scrap-heap. I have 10-year old laptops that still run Windows 10 well enough for kids to watch videos and play Roblox - the TPM thing will mean all of them will be stuck with an OS that has an end of life only 3-4 years away.

scrap heap : yes they can never be used for anything, ever .
After 11 they will melt if you spill water on them.

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the fly, "let us flee!"
"Let us fly!" said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

Back in the 1960s there was a product sold in small fluted glass jars, called "meat paste" that my mother slapped between slices of white bread plastered with 1/4 inch thickness of butter and called it a "sandwich".  I ate it once, then never again, I subsisted on the free warm milk at school that tasted off because it had been left in the sun (IOW it tasted off because it was), a slice of apple that had gone brown by lunchtime, and if I was lucky a tiny cardboard pack of raisins.  Fearing the reaction if I returned home with the sandwiches in my lunchbox, I biffed them in the bin for years, and gradually got thinner and thinner.  The reaction to this from my mother - fear that I was "failing to thrive" - was to carve even thicker slices of cold nasty butter, and pack my sandwich with even more of that vile grey substance that even the school cat wouldn't touch.

What was that "meat" paste actually made from?

@neb - that's remarkable.

That was a (non) joke my grandfather used to tell me when I was a small kid - I've never heard it elsewhere or since, and the only reaction when I tried to tell it was a blank despairing look of pity, that the lad telling it wasn't all there.

You've made my day.
