gehenna:

you're adding a liquid in solid form that's going to turn back into a liquid, diluting the drink you've got and decreasing the density of the bubbles.

Consider that it might have more to do with the contact angles of the substrate being added.  Ice is not a smooth surface, but more a very rough porous material - thus it provides an increased surface area for the bubbles to form. The surface bumps so to speak are referred to I think as Nucleation Sites.

Wet glass and slightly pre melted ice after works to some extent but wasn’t super fizzy still.

larknz: There's a shortage of CO2 at the moment, so there is not so much in the can

Are you sure? They keep telling us there’s too much of it.

Drink the coke straight from the can like the rest of us your highness! 😀 🤣

I have noticed that people from some cultures drink from a bottle without letting the bottle touch their lips, effectively pouring the drink into their mouths. I can see the hygiene benefits.

Not CO2, but there is a shortage of Dry Ice (Ok, the same thing in a different form).

NZ is short of locally produced CO² since Marsden Point shut down. Kapuni has also just shut down temporarily. There is a world shortage of it due to reduced demand for things that it is a byproduct of like Ethanol.
