The lack of "dumb" TVs on the Market astounds me, a lot of people (myself included) have Apple TV/Firestick/Skybox/HTPC/Xbox/PlayStation and the TV just a dumb panel.

Newer TVs how have an operating system, take ages to "boot" and the interface is overly complicated for doing simple things like changing sources.

What's worse is you have to pay more for less, if you want a "Dumb Panel" you have to pay outrageous prices for a digital signage price

.....Thats my hump day rant over

In my experience it isn't possible to give away a used dumb TV.  Our local reuse shop will only accept Smart TVs, because that's all people will buy.  We listed a couple of 32" HD dumb TVs on TradeMe, with a $1 reserve.  Not one bid.  I ended up paying to recycle both of them as e-waste.

If you had listed them for free here I am sure someone would have taken them. Geekzoners know the value of dumb monitors.

The problem is that anything from the era of being a dumb TV will be a pretty crappy display unless it is a Kuro or something. Noone wants to be looking at a washed out junk LCD even if it was free.

I saw many small ones at a reuse centre that I was picking something up from - $20 or so for 32" ones, looked like they had been there forever.

Nah, we still have our very old plasma as a monitor on hubby’s old gaming pc. Works great. Was a good screen then and still is. I’ve seen a few of those snapped up right quick in op shops.
