Oh well still a very good result for a 70th-something ranking team! Be proud, we remain undefeated!

So we didn't quite make it through to the next round... but I think the guys should be superbly proud of this result no matter what.
Absolute Kiwi heroes!!
They definitely deserve a heroes' welcome when they arrive at the airport!!

I liked Marty Devlin's quip about whether the Halberg sport award groups was watching.

Surely Paston should get a knighthood?

At the end of the day, football was the winner, and it was a game of two halves.

All credit to the boys, they played their hearts out and came away with what can only be described as an outstanding result for NZ Football.

There will be a couple of those guys that will pick up some nice offers from abroad.

I am heartily proud of the All Whites.

Not a soccer fan whatsoever until the All Whites showed us plenty of fight and spirit.

Thought I would stay up to watch last night's game as it could've been the last for many years / World Cups to come.

This is going to be one of those memories where I would say to my future kids, "I got up to watch them play, and so did most of the country... back in my day..." :-P

Yes well done to the All Whites. I think that was the first full game of football I have watched. It went really fast and it was great we were in the game right to the end.

to those understand soccer, what i didnt get was:

in the 2nd half, when clearly we needed to score to advance, why did we keep defending against a team which wasnt attacking? i thought that was the silliest thing about the entire tournament so far! perhaps they were concentrating on drawing and going home with no shame knowing that the attack is toothless anyway?
