NZtechfreak: I meant "that old turd" because it simply isn't true, its hard to believe that people still want to believe that, despite it being so widely discredited. Its not a valid response to the immigrant line.

I'm not really sure why people are saying they can't believe he said that, I mean its not as if we don't know the calibre of the man by now, seems perfectly plausible that PH would say that... What is hard to believe is that PHs brain can stop his mouth running enough to prevent him saying stuff like that everyday...

are you saying that Maori people have been in Nz for ever and ever since the landmass known now as New Zealand existed?

No, I think he's referring to the suggestion that the Maori were not the first to settle in NZ.

Its kinda like the Moon landing, because the USA landed on it first it belongs to the USA now. Don't forget that some Maori believe the radio waves and up to the stratosphere belong to them also. Technically we could say that any part of the universe that is parallel to the shores of NZ is owned by them.

But then wasn't Maui a giant who calved up NZ in a few days? I swear that the Ancient Chinese would have documented something about this giant back then.

"In 1835 Māori tribes from the Wellington area arrived in the Chathams, driven south in search of new land, and claiming ownership of the Chathams. A number of Morioris were killed and others captured. The Moriori numbers fell to 101. Most of the Māori eventually left the Chathams by 1870. It was Solomon's grandfather, the chief of the Rauru tribe, who convinced the Moriori to remain pacifist during the invasion of their land. Tame Horomona Rehe Solomon, known as Tommy Solomon, the last full blooded Moriori, died in 1933."

So basically the Maori did the same thing over there, who cares get over it. New Zealand would be a much better place if we didn't worry about these things.

Have you watched the TV Programme by Mikey Havoc, Are you My Tribe?
I am fully ashamed at how some of those people act.

Ok I'd just like to point out folks, if Paul Henry's comment really did offend people that bad then what about Hone Harawira's comment stating we are "White motherf***kers??

How on earth did he get away with that then huh??

Where was his suspension then..?

I wonder how much presenting in that slot pays, or it's maybe for self promotion.

Personally if I was in that situation, I would put faith in TVNZ, that they will  do the right thing, and wouldn't take my own action. In this case they have.

It's gotta work both ways for Mr Henry and Mr Harawira doesn't it? But somehow in this example I gave it certainly does not go both ways.. Meaning one got 'let off' and the other has been suspended for what he had said.

Now in my eyes, that is racism.

My vote would be for Cameron Slater to do the tech spot.

I think Slater and Henry would be the TVNZ dream team.

<snicker>

This is no disrespect to Ben as I think he did a great job and I give him full credit for taking a stand.

They do already have another guy who also does tech, an older guy.

Personally I don't know why someone would give a job up like this for a reason like this.  I can't see it making two hoots of a difference.  My initial thought was "yeah, so what?"

I think Ben has made this his loss rather than TVNZ's loss.

And yes I am a PH fan.  How boring would the world be without people with differing opinions? He may have said something that some people didn't agree with, but he did publicly apologise for his poor judgement.  Then people should have moved on.  But they didn't.  A shame really.
