lol. You would think that journalists and news editors would do some background checks on the authenticity of these studies.

Ropenuts: Thats rubbish man. 70 percent of them probly use IE. I use IE9, love it. Im not saying im smart but i dont think im dumb..

I have found so many websites don't work properly properly in IE9, on multiple computers, that I gave up on it.Even in compatibility mode. If I need to use IE for testing, I just use IE8

I'd be surprised if a real study of this nature that was properly conducted didn't show similar trends.

Not because xyz browser users are necessarily smarter that IE browser users, but because of the spread of intelligence of the browsers' users.

As people have noted already many people will simply use what came with their machine, and will have no interest in the alternatives or upgrades.

Whatever is the case - study or no study, correlating IQ with a specific browser usage is just dumb, and if done it obviously would work only for marketing purposes, not real scientific progress.

I still think people that use IE6 must be real dumb!

IE 7, 8 or 9 is definitely way better!

Personally Ive hated IE since IE4, have used all versions as Ive been forced to at work - IE9 is a big improvement for sure but I like Chrome or Opera much better!

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

I was just commenting that if you change the question slightly to find the relationship between people who change or upgrade their browsers (e.g. to IE9 or Firefox/Chrome/Opera) and IQ (or better, computer literacy) then you may end up with a very good insight into which people maintain their computers and which don't - which may be a help to getting people to keep their computers up-to-date (security etc).
