Jonski: Last time I tried to fill in one of these, it asked not only for the rego, it also required the make, model and colour of the vehicle. Which A) is a lot to remember until you can pull over and jot down the details and B) requires being able to identify unfamiliar models or those with no insignia. Not to mention trucks or buses which are custom jobs.

YMMV.

I used carjam.co.nz to jog my memory a bit about the exact details. Also noticed his wof/licence was out of date. So hopefully they do something about it.

Like I said in my reply, the TCF will not look at enforcement, unless certain criteria are met (99.99% of the time it will just be a letter sent) so you would have to make a formal complaint about the wof/licence.
Also, they do not add anything to your report, ie if you say 'passing on double yellow' they will enter that. If you say 'passing on double yellow' and 'expired wof' then they will enter both.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

I am using my car every single day on the way to work and back from waikanae to wellington. Chewing up about 100km of road per day. I see plenty of near misses, and plenty of aggressive drivers taking ridiculous chances. So I guess I am going to be making use of these reports a bit more now! At least something is done, even if its just a letter. Overall hopefully making our roads a safer place.

I guess in America if you parked you car behind a police car and jump out, walking towards the officers they would get all jumpy...

You would probably suffer whiplash from kissing the dirt so quickly as they put cuffs on you, to then ask questions later ;)
