bazzer:billgates: I rack up airpoints dollars now on mt credit card. $80 spent gets me 1 airpoint dollar and for every $250 spent I get 1 status point. You can swipe the card at any retailer or online anywhere. Much better than selective retailer schemes like AA or Flybuys IMO.
What card do you have? I get $1 for each $100 I spend with ASB, I find this more useful than airpoints dollars because I can use the rewards $s at a range of retailers that I actually use anyway (e.g. supermarket).
the 'how much do i spend for each reward $' ratio of ASB cards was pretty dismal last i looked. westpac had the worst. national bank cashback rewards was the best. i'm happy with my bnz plat visa with airpoints because i also use the koru discounts and i fly. if i could use an amex everywhere, i'd use teh amex version as the earning rate is better.
got to remember when evaluating the c/c schemes, to include annual fees, supplymentary card fees (if you have partner), and rewards program fees. If fees all add up to $250 per annum, and you only spend $20,000 per annum on the card, and it takes $15,000 to earn $100 reward, then you were better off paying cash...!
