sen8or: how does an american short back and sides haircut differ from a kiw short back and sides haircut?

I think it's a matter of perspective

No. My point has been that something being illegal does not mean that it is theft, just because theft is illegal as well.  That's not perspective, that's the law, and saying otherwise is incorrect.

Copyright is a legal construct, enabling a monopoly right of reproduction and the potential to gain remuneration from that reproduction for a limited period to a particular individual who holds that right, or to an entity that has that right assigned to it.

One can't even discuss it if the correct language and terminology are not used, as the conversation will be free of jointly understood meaning, and will usually become emotionally charged.

By "American" I meant American military / law-enforcement style haircut as stereotyped on TV/movies. On second viewing of the footage, it doesn't look so 'American' after all.

watched campbell live ... beginning to wonder about the real reason mr X wanted kim gone (apparently he is doign business directly and transparently with artists to bypass the middle man ie label record companies) ... and also wondering what the USA is blackmailing us with (or what carrot they are dangling but i doubt there is a carrot in such financially tumultuous times in the states)

actually joker, conspiracy, the company that owned megaupload were working with record labels for their new venture.

as for the person who claims a person looks american because of their haircut, are you by chance racist?  I am also guessing in your view our entire military and police recruits must be american judging by their hair cuts.

The FBI had no hands on involvement in the execution of the warrant at all, mainly because they hold no powers under any statute to affect an arrest or otherwise enter onto property in NZ.

If you believe everything you see on TV, especially coming from a tabloid journalist like John Campbell then you may as well head on over to the conspiracy theory thread and start getting involved there.

John Campbell and some other 'news' shows are only interested in one thing, selling advertising space and lifting their ratings.

The fact that the NZ police are one of the most resepcted police organisations in the world and have one of the lowest corruption rates in the world never gets a look in does it, doesn't make for good copy I guess.

I prefer to wait until the case has been presented in court when both sides of the story can be told. It's easy to mouth off blaming the police for this and that knowing full well they are legally prevented from defending themselves due to matters being before the court.

I did read that Dotcom is looking forward to defending himself. I wonder why he doesn't just waive the extradition hearing and go to the US to do just that?

Regardless of the alleged crime involved, I would move heaven and earth to avoid putting myself at any risk in a US court.

I can understand that, human nature being what it is.

But he has made a statement via his lawyer stating he is looking forward to defending himself. Perhaps he was meaning defending himself at the extradition hearing and not the trial?

I think he is over a barrel anyway. Even if the US governemnt fail to extradite him I can't see them just rolling over and returning all of his property that has been seized around the world.

It would seem the easiest and quickest way for him to move on is to get to the US as soon as possible and defend his case.

Of course this brings the risk that he could end up in a federal prison for 25 to life...

Marmel, you sound just like a copper (or an ex) to me and a lowly ranked one at that (else you wouldn't posting in this thread).

You are very unlikely to have an unbiased opinion.
