I'm interested to know this too.

I’m going to to try applying on the same day. DIA asked to call them in the afternoon(On the day they print your certificate)to check your certificate number. If they have it in their system you’re good to go.

My friend did this , and it was fine even without certificate number

I applied for my NZ passport at 0900 on the day after I had my certificate.

At the time, my father was in ICU in the UK and likely to die sooner rather than later. My wife took the application form to DIA in person and explained that whilst there was presently no urgent travel planned, there might be.

She collected my passport at 4pm on the same day.

Looks like it has gone into a deep 'Soviet' mode - everyone retiring into their Dacha after 'great' achievements made during the year. I'm saying this as the application timeframes on the DIA website details are most unhelpful.

I call DIA yesterday the only thing they tell me that keep an eyes on your email if I am lucky I will get case officer before 24 dec otherwise after 5th on jan

Not ahead of time as per DIA. They’ve asked me to wait until tomorrow to apply for my passport.
