OuTLaWzZ69: so anybody else just applied without receiving their Citizenship cert? also, do we need to then get an authorized photographer to take the pic?

Anyone can take the photo provided that it meets the photo requirements. A few months back I had to get proof of citizenship to accept a job offer, even though I was born here. So I just went to the chemist, got my photo taken and emailed to me.

1. I have had my RealMe id since 2016. You don't need to be a citizen to have a RealMe id. You just need a valid address proof, ID (overseas passport in my case) and if my memory serves right, and a recent photo.

2. You can apply for an NZ passport without the certificate number, that is optional. Having said that, check with DIA again to make sure your certificate has been printed and then apply for a passport (urgent and not standard).

3. As @drsteini mentioned above, anyone can take the photo as long as it meets the requirements.

I applied for a standard one. It took 14 working days, as I was asked to re-submit my photo. Else I think I would have received it in 11-12 working days.

Not a citizenship application but I have twice applied to a passport online, using RealMe. Just standard service as it was a few weeks before the old one expired.

The first came in about a week. The second time I ordered online on a Tuesday and arrived on Saturday.

YMMV.

Thanks, Happy New Year to you too.

Not the best start as we are still waiting for my certificates which apparently were posted on 22nd December and also waiting for Realme account verification, before we can apply for our passports.

I’m so sorry. If you don’t receive your certificates by tomorrow I’d suggest you to email citizenship team and ask for your tracking number.

On the other hand, if your realme account is taking longer then expected send in paper application for your passport. Similarly convenient as per my experience when I applied for my newborn’s passport.
