There are some good ones here -actually great ones, but I can't believe my fellow nerds haven't mentioned "Soylent Green" (1973). Let me see what else? Does "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) count? That one stunned me, I had seen Dawn and Day of but never Night until recently, it is genius. Also probably for pure sci-fi - one called "Silent Running". And if you will permit me "Lord of the Rings" I was simply stunned by the first movie and so pleased it did well. If that is not allowed District 9 is also genius. Here is photos of my nerdy movie collection memorabilia. Sauron statue and notice the roll of  movie tickets above it and 3d movie glasses. Also a gun replica from D9. Edit: I am Welly based

Aliens. I have loved this franchise since the first film but the second film was a rare case where the sequel was actually better than the original (in my opinion). It has been a benchmark in sci-fi inspiring many film makers. It also has some of the most memorable lines in moves:

they mostly come at night... mostly
What do you mean they cut the power? They're animals!
express elevator to hell, going down!
game over man, game over!
Get away from her, you bi***
LET'S ROCK!

And for my pic I have my 1/6 scale Movie Masterpiece ED-209

That Ed209 is awesome. P.S. to my earlier post does Avatar count (and I was in it)?

Definitely Star Wars for me, nothing was more amazing than this when I saw it as a kid (About 5 years old I think)
My father tells me as soon as I finished watching it on TV at home, I had to watch it again!

You honestly can not get stick of any of the three original movies, Star Wars will live forever. Such amazing story telling!

Star Wars is my all time favourite.
Saw it at the Civic Theatre when I was 10yrs old. I became obsessed with Luke Skywalker, hated Han Solo (for trying it on with Leia) and really wanted the Force to be real.
Funnily as I got older ( Empire Strikes Back) I saw Han as the cool one and Luke as a bit soft.
Now as you can see, as a 40+ yr old Darth Vader is Da Man! LOL

Terminator 2 Judgment Day
Epic movie, great lines, awesome scenes like the T-1000 frozen with liquid nitrogen then shattered, always a good watch.

Hasta la vista, baby.

It may not be the greatest ever made, but The Quiet Earth is always worth a re-watch. Reasons:

My vote would have to be the Fifth Element for sure

Milla Jovovich mmmmmm,

for the same reason the Resident Evil movies too!

I will have to dig my Pulp Fiction drug use action set out, not sci-fi or 5th Element but quite cool none the less!

I've sent a PM to two people asking if they're in AKL. No replies. Please check your Messages page if you enter a competition.

Once I get the Auckland confirmation then I will send out a PM with the other tickets.
