scuwp:
Personally I have always found NL to be very competitive on pricing and they are certainly always worth a haggle over price.  They will price match anything at the drop of a hat and with Fly Buys puts the icing on the cake.

They won't price match on anything they don't have in the actual store. Some products they never stock, they are only online, so they never  qualify for a price match.

Norman Ross in Christchurch has rebranded to Harvey Norman.

Different company altogether. There were 3 NRs; they've all changed to the HN brand name.

Yes. I understood that NR were the poor cousin of HN. Much as B&B were to NL.
My point was merely the observation that NR disappeared about the same time as B&B . So I wondered if this was perhaps more than coincidence.

I think it was inevitable that there would have to be some rationalisation in the appliance retail space given our small population and the amount of competition.

I know you were talking about Norman Ross, but also B&B is definitely the same as Noel Leemings.
In Manukau the shops are side-by-side and if Leemings doesn't have something, the assistant will go next door to get it from B&B. Happened to me.
