don't take the "systemic" (whole body) steroids unless it's life and death to you (for some the hayfever is life and death so ... what can they do) - because it will suck the life out of your body and may even kill you one day ... the nasal sprays are low dose "local" (only on that area) steroids and is extremely unlikely to have those effects

Thanks alot for your replys :) ,

Never knew so many had hayfever out there! Anyway , im going to give Flixotide a try.
Will try that Lemon stuff tomorrow , quite interesting :) !

Oh and I have a moisture master system installed through out the whole house, doesnt really do anything for my allergies though.

I have been a Hayfever sufferer for 17 years (it started when I was 20). From the time the symptoms started until about 5 years ago I tried EVERYTHING on the market; every brand of antihistamine tablets, nasal sprays and even steroid injections. They all worked for a while and then stopped being effective. By this stage I was getting hayfever virtually all year round.

At this point I started investigating alternative therapies and came up with a couple which have significantly improved my hayfever.

1) Yamoa Powder - With 3 months of treatment using this, my symptoms dropped from all year round to 2 months (Dec & Jan). I took this for a couple of years (3 months each year)
2) Custom herbal remedy from The Herbal Shop (they courier to anywhere) - This further reduced my symptoms to a couple of weeks a year.

Now I have hayfever symptoms maybe once a week during Dec / Jan and normally an antihistamine pill will settle it down pretty quickly. So far this year I've taken AH pills twice. If the symptoms really flare up again I'll go for another dose of herbal remedy as that worked wonders last time!

Both of these treatment options are more expensive than AH pills or the like, but they work to reduce symptoms long term - even after you stop taking them, so they're well worth the money!!

I have a natural suspicion of most herbal products its fair to say. What ingredients are in that remedy they give you? Do any of them interact with prescription medicines? Do any of them have a well described safety profile? Is there any shred of documented evidence about the efficacy of any of their constituents beyond anecdotal evidence, or even a presumptive mechanism of action? How do they determine what goes into your custom mix?

FWIW anecdotal evidence is NOT evidence. Great it worked for you, but I would skeptical in the extreme that they are worth the money or should be widely recommended.

If you do have answers to any of the above I'd love to hear it. I'm perfectly happy to give people options around alternative or complimentary therapies, providing they can at least meet a burden of proof around safety at a minimum (with the notable exception of homeopathy, which is abject baseless drivel).

I have done my research on both of the 'natural' options I took and from what I can tell they are both a) legit and b) well tested and researched for safety and efficacy.

At the end of the day however, all I can really say for 100% sure, is that after 12 years of misery with no real solutions, these 2 products have made dramatic changes for me. Sure, they might not work for you, but I doubt they're going to make things worse.

If nothing else, at the core of their makeup, the products aim to work on the cause, rather than the symptoms; that alone says more to me than anything else.

Yamoa Powder sounds interesting, but everything online is marketing, there's no facts. I'm a bit sceptical of miracle cures, if they were really cures someone would've properly tested it and released it.

It's a conspiracy by Big Oil! They know it works, but they want to keep us enslaved to our handkerchiefs so we will be forced to continue driving to the chemist to buy more antihistamines.

Lol... Yeah, I'm with you; there are quite a few herbal remedies that actually work. And funnily enough, all of those have been proven scientifically. The only one I can think of that hasn't been extracted and turned into a brand name is St. John's Wort.

It's hayfever. I usually get it from November-January, I get itchy, watery eyes and runny, congested nose the moment I wake up. Now I've been using Neilmed nasal irrigation first thing in the morning and in the afternoon and it clears my nose.

It worked for me, and I can work properly now without sneezing or blowing my nose from time to time.

Presently using Loraclear.

Used Claratyne for years, but hey it's all Loratadine - Loraclear is a lot cheaper.

One year I tried a desloratadine based brand, and maybe it was psychological or a particularly bad spring or something, but I just didn't think it worked as well as loratadine.
