Disrespective: Yeah, as I said. The swift is just too small. We want enough space for car seats, groceries, wetsuits, bike parts e.t.c. And enough grunt to be able to tow a trailer, carry boards/bikes on the roof. The Swift just doesn't fit the bill, even if it's a nice small car.

BTR: My advice is if you are going to spend 20K get something fun! My partner and I bought our first expensive car last year and we love it. We got a 05 Subaru Legacy 3.0R spec B, it is a very comfortable long distance car but at the same time is very quick and the sports extras make it handle very well.
Remember a car is the second biggest investment most people make so you might as well get the right shape, colour, features and interior to suit. Not point buying something you are not full happy with as you will regret it.
Happy hunting and let us know when you decide to go with.

ubergeeknz:gkjb: As for the initial question, personally I love European cars but when they go wrong they can be very, very costly.
