As if we needed more conspiracy theorists in the world. I bet these are the same folks that believe in contrails/chemtrails, HAARP, UFO coverups and other crap.

Hey! I believe in HAARP!

...it's a great concert album

cool

You mean this.

Such conspiracy!

I know, it's great!  Especially that photo of the weird-hair guy! (great meme fodder)

But I still prefer my link better... :)

Satch:
johnr: The end user that started that thread is a total moron and clearly has nothing better to do, What a waste of time and effort

How is a comment like this any better than what the banned user was doing?

I couldn't agree more with Satch. If certain people are serious about helping the community, instead of merely piling in when these drama threads are created or doing the not exactly heroic acts of calling out supposed idiots/joining other hordes' efforts in doing so elsewhere, just report the offending posts or ignore them.

If there is a problem with any of our staff replies, please report the offending post. Although in the case of some users I suspect it will be anything said by a VF staff member.

Demeter: I think it's pretty obvious that two people have independently pointed out that a known staff member of a telco making derogatory comments about a banned user and calling him a moron isn't helpful in the context of a thread endeavouring to explain the admin and moderators' efforts at keeping this place a welcoming and useful community. Do you somehow have a problem with that? To be frank, I suspect the admins/moderators here have better things to do than to have every little thing brought to their attention. However, I'll point out generally speaking (and I reject any insinuation that I might be someone who has a problem with anything posted by VF staff merely because they are by VF staff) using non-inflammatory language and acting with courtesy tends to earn one better reception.

Er... I am not sure exactly what I said that was aimed at you specifically, but since you took it as a personal affront, sure.

Agreed, though perhaps he was merely being ironic?

And there's a reason for the slack. Every moderator here personally know at least a couple of telco/ISP folks participating in the forums. We all know JohnR and the way he writes is exactly the way he is... So there's a slack cut there. Because reasons.

Unfortunately, given the clear insinuation in your reply that some people simply choose to read what certain VF staffer's replies badly merely due to their status -- especially when such reply was to an apparently fairly unobjectionable statement on my part -- it's pretty hard to react favourably to it. If you are surprised by that, I can't help.

Agreed.

The value the johnr, the rest of the Vodafone team, the Telecom and  2 Degrees folk bring to this forum voluntary is immeasurable.
