My issue with NZ Couriers was them tossing a card in the box and driving off...while I'm standing in the kitchen watching them through the open front door.

Much faster to just pre-fill all the cards and take off.

NZ Post Couriers are generally better...with a few exceptions.

My problem is usually the signature being required and I'm not home. Then I have to go to the depot...typically several days later on the Saturday morning.

Not much point sending things by courier to people who aren't in an office with someone on reception.

Would also depend on the driver, as there are both good and bad eggs in every courier company.

Must have had a relief driver on this morning. Normally get really good service from Courier Post with the normal driver knowing to drop things at the back door. This morning however, despite being up with lights on (obvious at 0640 illuminating the curtains) including the outside light at the back door because I was expecting the delivery, I heard the van pull up out the front and then shortly afterwards, drive off again. Checked the doorstep and then the letter box on my way out and found a card left in the letterbox.
*sigh*

I think the point was that he was home so no reason the courier could not have knocked on the door and made the delivery. Sounds like another example of the current MO of just dropping cards. Why they drive vans I have no idea, they may as well just run around with a pocket full of cards on a motorbike.

I have an 'authority to leave' at my place, they still leave a card...sigh.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I do, then a new driver comes along and has no idea about the authority to leave so just stuffs the damn cards in the letterbox. Worse is that since I never get mail to the house and it just fills up with free newspapers and crap junkmail from kids who cant read, I end up not seeing the cards for ages. Usually recycling day when mailbox contents are transfered to kerbside.

Have a doorbell for "Deliveries" that just plays the message, leave it!

Or, you could go super complicated and use a camera hooked up to a pattern recognition system to look for their uniform...

They dont ring the doorbell. I have often had the tv on the camera because its the most interesting channel it gets and seen the van pull in and ran downstairs and only just made it after they had dumped the card and were walking back. Not carrying the parcel. It was in the van at least but they had to get it from the back on one occasion.

Im sure that they just pre-fill all the cards and dump them.

Since they had to walk to the door in any case, exactly what are they saving by not trying to deliver?!
