Dead slow!

Date showing Sunday.

About Us page blank.

Strange that Companies Office shows previous names for 4tradeit:

KELLY RECRUITMENT LIMITED (from 28 Nov 2005 to 17 Jul 2007)
LOYAL HILL LIMITED (from 04 Mar 2005 to 28 Nov 2005)

Oh ok. I only gave it about 5 seconds before closing the tab. Because if you aren't loaded in that time then you are as good as useless.

Then I guess they have failed to start up more servers in time. 40000 hours spent on it too, and it cant scale for a few visits from a mention on a news site?

I gave up on the 3rd click with it taking close to 40 seconds. If they cant be assed making it work fast then really its just insulting their site visitors to try to load like that. Should be throwing a 500 and something error straight away than being a laggy turd.

The article says he spent 40,000 hours developing it!

Won't even load at all for me. Correction it loaded after about 1 minute. Must be hosted on the cheapest overseas hosting possible. Where do you start, the logo looks like it was done in word. The rest looks like a standard auction site, but nothing compelling to make me want to invest time listing things to sell on it, and at the speed it is loading, it will proabbly take me a day to list things. Trademe has all the eyeballs and is reasonably fast. Although even trademe has bugs when listing things.. eg adding photos to an existing listing, and making changes, then clicking the link to go to the previous page, it will wipe any previous changes you made to the listing, which is really annoying.

4tradeit.co.nz certainly has speed issues. I tested the home page with gtmetrix.com, giving the following result:

Almost a minute to load, and a speed score of F.

Trademe took 4.0 seconds and achieved a score of A.

Kopkiwi: What do you guys believe a new site would need to have, or do, in order to finally seriously take on Trademe?

Transferrable Trademe user feedback history.

No one with 50+ or more good hits will swap easily.

Seriously, the only thing that would work is some kind of govt regulation  -- making auction listings public property while the fees belong to the service provide.

ie, a front end that is able to scrape auction listings from multiple service (auction) providers. Then , people can choose their own service provider but still be able to bid on auctions of people who belong to a different service provider.

Who 'owns' the auction? the person who puts all the work into making the listing, or trademe? Today it is trademe.

Wow this is a good one. Owner say it was a hard 12 year slog to make.

1st the product is an off the shelf solution. http://geodesicsolutions.com/our-customers.html I have checked the code on 4tradeit.co.nz and another site listed on this page. And guess what the main JS code is the same.

And then the owner did not even design the site https://www.blufyremedia.com/reviews

https://www.blufyremedia.com/reviews:  We also have our site hosted with BluFyre Media.
Hardly a glowing endorsement of their hosting then.
