It's not a genre I listen to a lot, but sometimes you just need some sludgy, blues infused hard rock. :-)

I suspect Clutch would appeal to fans of Queens of the Stone Age. Here's another song of theirs, which you might like a bit more. Its one that wouldn't be out of place on a Sons of Anarchy soundtrack, I reckon.

FWIW, your experience (apart from the personal enjoyment bit) mimics a common reaction I get from my wife when playing my normal stuff.

Much better. I actually enjoyed it but it is not something I would want to hear over and over. It would be better if it was 3 minutes instead of 7. I found it a bit repetitious.

OK. I know I am a bit unusual.

However, I wondered if this one was down to me or whether others share.

I have plenty of music in my Apple Music collection - enough to play it for days and days without repeating.

Yet I just spent 10 minutes trawling through it all completely unable to find a single album I wanted to listen to and ended up putting on a streaming radio station.

I find the music has to fit the way I am feeling at that moment or else it is intolerable and I MUST turn it off or change it if I am to be able to concentrate on anything else. Some music (e.g. rap) has that effect to such an extent that I will leap up and cross the room to turn it off or leave shops etc that are playing it because I simply cannot bear to listen to it.

Is anyone else that sensitive to it or am I just very eccentric that way?

I am very much the same. My mood totally changes what end of my library ill end up with.

This i often find is a hard one to explain, what do you listen to?

right now, i have 4 youtubes open, 9 soundclouds and foobar. All different sorts, be it some alike.

Generally when im driving anyone, ill op for a pop station to meet some middle ground. Otherwise i have my slowly dying ipod loaded up with almost anything (Sadly not FLAC although in car its not such a big factor.) i could want to listen to. Its Velcroed down, runs an app that handles gestures Works out well for me.

An interesting story about how music affects people and then how music plus reference changes that.

I am a big Celine Dion fan. (No I don't care you don't like her, and I care even less that you may think less of me because I do). Late '99 I was fortunate enough to receive her latest album a little earlier than most, and like all her previous albums, I listened to it on loop for about 2 months. I very much enjoyed the album.

I went to the USA for the Year 2000 Celebrations and whilst there, I went to a Sony Metroplex in San Francisco and saw BiCentential Man starring Robin Williams. I, unlike some, very much enjoyed the movie, but it was made considerably more so because her music from this album was dispersed through the movie.

What I felt was interesting, was after the movie, that album held completely different meaning to me and now when I listen to these tracks, the emotions brought up are related to the ones from the movie.

At the peak of her abilities she epitomized singing voice.
You know someone can sing when live recording sound as good as studio. Hers were better than studio. Not recently though. Which suggests voice actually needs work training and form.

Yup. To a degree.

I find most classical stuff really grating, like nails on a chalkboard. That will drive me out of places. Make me not able to concentrate.

Nope. I detest all forms of rap and hip hop. Hideous. Not even justifiable in being called music - just people talking BLX over noise....JMO of course!

Yes, there are certainly classical pieces that are just akin to Cacophonix the Bard in Asterix. How anyone can listen to them and enjoy them I simply cannot imagine. OTOH, some classical pieces are simply breathtaking. It's not a genre I listen to a lot.

Likewise opera. Largely beyond me how anyone can be induced to pay money to listen to that - again with some exceptions. I took a girlfriend to see Pavarotti many moons ago (no names, no pack drill) and that was pretty impressive.

I'm a bit like that GT. Ive got heaps on my phone, but I scroll, nothing I want right now. I find The Sound radio station refreshing. I often play an album I like, for days and days and days and days. Nothing else. Then I change to another! Last was Tom Petty, next was Mental As Anything

Plus One for The Sound even though I've been listening to their playlist since the songs were new songs, I can listen to those songs again and again and still dig them.

The newest band I've bought an album of is Oasis and they tried to sound like The Beatles so go figure. For me, discovering new music is finding old jazz, swing, blues, soul and Motown songs and artists that I hadn't heard before. I.e. go back in history to find 'new' music.

Most of the new music in English just doesn't grab me.
