I think you are being a little harsh. Sure it could have been organized better, but I know a few people who went who said other than it being busy, they saw some value in it.

I think it would work better if they limited tickets to a day and kept the total numbers to manageable sizes.

It's the first year they have tried this, putting on an expo of this nature is huge work, and learnings will come from even the most successful event.

Kudos to the sponsors and those who paid to put on a free event.

Some of us actually value our time -- these people advertised that those who pre-booked tickets won't need to line up. The fact that the organisers can't even live up to their own promises is unacceptable. These guys aren't running this as a charity: they presumably get a cut from stallholders/renters. I have no problem with anyone making a profit -- you just shouldn't/don't get to do it at the expense of or via intelligent consumers whom you've given the run around.

These guys are getting the pummelling that they deserve and need.

Has anyone been today? Wondering what the lines are like with only booked ticket holders allowed entry...

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I went this afternoon and won a jaybird headset after just a couple of mins inside the bldg. Well, you get free chances of winning every hour if you dont mind queing for a little less than an hr so not so bad for a free event.

Friend went at 3pm Sunday, said it was absolute chaos, said it was way too small a venue. He didnt spend long and didnt see anything he'd consider a bargain.

SirHumphreyAppleby:

Kiwifruta: drove from Tauranga, 2 hour queue. What else to do in Aucks with 3 young boys, wife and a baby?

Denny's for lunch? PB Tech Manukau is a few hundred meters away. Rainbow's End is just across the road. Zoo/MOTAT/Museum are all about 20 minutes away.

Thanks for the suggestions, we went to the Museum, everyone loved it, day was a success. :-)

Great application of problem solving and common sense! Making the most of the day; good example to set for your kids laughing

Thanks to PB for putting it on; yes things could have been organised a bit better and I'm sure lessons have been learned for next time however waiting in queues for a couple of hours is not too uncommon for large public events.

Luckily I was able to get across Friday afternoon so didn't have any problems; perchance did anyone manage to knock me off the leader-board of the rowing challenge in the entrance? tongue-out I was sitting at 2nd equal on Fri (~330m), 1x stroke away from 1st before I started slipping of the seat!
