In exchange for our daughter being ready for school on time every day for a month (Quite a feat) we have agreed to get 2 kittens when we can find some, we are looking to have another round of 2 x tabbies, from the same litter, ideally brothers. We aren't sure how the existing cat will cope but hopefully, it will help with potential loneliness.

Many cats love running water. Your local pet store will have a variety of continuous-flow water fountains to choose from that may delight your cat.

You can also get USB-powered ones from your favourite crapvendor, or off Trademe if you're willing to pay steeper prices. Not sure how much it helps though, neighbour got one at an op shop for a few dollars but their cat always drinks from the bowl.

duckDecoy:

My neighbour went through 3 Tonks in quick succession via the same method.  Are they more adventurous or something?

Well they're bred for baiting car traps:

It's no surprise then that they attract vehicles.
