They do say in their FAQs that they're working on increasing the frequency of Ping payouts. Currently it's once daily at 14:45, I imagine it'll end up being 3–4 times per day.

Buyers will also pay a new service fee based on the purchase price, if items are more than $20. This will be
- 99c for goods sold for $20.01 to $100,
- $1.99 for sales between $100.01
- $250 and $4.99 for items over $250

Not a biggie.

@gzt ... I wasn't alluding to not knowing about the fee, just that the fact was not apparent in their public advertising.

Can't see why they can't do it hourly to match the banks payment frequency.

@cddt @Handsomedan I already posted about Ping a few posts up the page https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=324139&page_no=3#3467319

Money is in your bank account within a couple of hours of auction end. It sits on the Trademe account just long enough that you can use it to pay for a courier (if you want to) and you can then have it auto transfer the remainder to a bank account.

Something I realised yesterday, which I'm not sure whether anyone has mentioned yet, is a huge benefit of the buyer fee — this means that buyers will need to pony up with some kind of credit card info, giving Trade Me and/or Police an avenue to identify people doing dodgy stuff. We've all heard of the scams some people pull, and this will make it a lot harder to hide behind digital anonymity. I like it!

The scammers will just be using accounts they social engineer out of people or that go and use the same passwords everywhere like they do now with listing scam items.

If the card is saved on there and they have available credit on it then they can go crazy shopping with ping and having things sent out.

NCSC says cards with dynamic CVV are available in NZ. I had not heard of it:

https://www.ncsc.govt.nz/insights-and-research/insights-reports/quarter-three-cyber-security-insights/beyond-sms-2/

I see trademe now supports 2FA. It isn't clear to me if 2FA is used to confirm a payment. Probably not if it would potentially interrupt the bid/buy flow.

So I had a look at the seller instructions section still exists and contains my trademe bank details... I wonder if that will be sent out still if the cash option is selected and I wonder if the ability to ship via trademe will be removed from cash wins or not.

I belive ANZ has offered this for a while -- see here. Don't think any other bank has this yet.

I don't see the point in dynamic codes unless they will block places that don't use it totally. Can still use amazon when its enabled.

https://help.trademe.co.nz/hc/en-us/articles/360007264471-Using-Ping

"The seller pays a fee of 2.19% of the total payment amount (this includes shipping)"

Trademe are double dipping , the seller is STILL paying success fess .... despite trademe inferring otherwise in their push for this change .

Most of the stuff I sell is pickup only .. not practical to courier .
So I want cash on pickup . It would be an issue if the buyer used PING instead of cash , Id be inclined to not hand over the goods . Ive seen 1 seller put in his listing that he doesnt accept ping , despite it being a (forced) payment option , Im sure more will do this .

I can see this causing more sellers & buyers to consider FB marketplace . No fees , no having an unwanted payment option forced on sellers . Ive had more issues with dodgy trademe sellers than FB sellers (0) .

Trademe can do what they want , its their company, but continually ignoring the complaints of their users will only have 1 long term outcome . How to continually trash the reputation of a once much loved NZ institution ...

That is significantly lower than what it was. Imo it will take some time before conventions develop and the edges of this new system are known. It sounds ok to me.

Saw something on bank transfer - they're updating the terms and conditions and policies that will outlaw the use of bank transfers and including it in the success email that is sent out.  I suspect they'll have some form of system to monitor this and potentially ban accounts for breaching the ToCs.
