I certainly wish they'd enforce it for rear ones, because it's not a rare occurence.

Edit: and what about if one headlight is out? That is common as muck as well.

Both, same offence code and fee, but different clause.
Headlights out are a "not up to warrant of fitness standard", or "failing to display a pair of headlamps", both $150.

Gee - you live somewhere that has bus services. Lucky you. And I guess there are lots of reliable taxi where you live too? Guess what... not where I live.

Appeal on what basis? Didn't you admit that you ddin't have your lights on? If the bad flu affected turning on your lights then I would suggest you shouldn't have been driving!

Some times you need to jump in a car when you shouldn't, or don't even want to. Have you never, ever driven a car when you shouldn't have been. Sometimes circumstances mean you have to.

I've had to drive when I've been delirious with flu - would rather not have, but circumstances meant I had to.

Several times I've had anesthetic and been told not to drive for the next 3 or 4 hours. But rather than have to wait around for that length of time with nothing to do, I have driven.

I'm glad I wasn't on the road! You didn't "have" to drive, you were simply too impatient to wait. Granted sometimes we all drive when we shouldn't but if you end up doing something silly because of it (like, I don't know, leaving your lights off or running someone over) then you should deal with the consequences, not try and weasel out of it.

Both.
So Graemeh is due some $150 fines and should turn himself in .

Fortunately the guy behind was so close the cops couldn't see my fog lights come on. I turned them off a few seconds later :)

Rubbish. Unless you've got someone with you who is going to die unless you drive them to get medical help and you can't call for an ambulance there is never a situation where you HAVE to drive.

It is comforting how you KNOW that there is no such situation EVER. That's great.

So who was going to die if you waited for the 3 to 4 hours? There is a good reason why they tell you not to drive.

When you have a bad flu you forget to do things such as turn your lights on, and if you are driving in a well lite suburban area then it id easy to miss.

Or have a subaru and just leave your lights on, because they turn on and off with the ignition xD
