Got Case Officer allocated to my application:

25 of March 2021 - Paper - Auckland

you got allocated or got confirmation details email, it is different things

Are these different things?

Just for background - in 2019 I didn't get any - just an approval email after 2 weeks of application and a subsequent letter. Waiting for my wife's application so please don't mind my question.

Confirm details like when application is passed main checks , like Presence requirement and NZ character requitement I think , you will not get confirm email if you don't meet one of those , according to what I read and happen to a friend of mine.

In 2019 things was great, DIA was efficient and no covid too , usually get approved letter within 1-2 months. So no need confirm details , but now it take 10-11 months , so there chance people change address and small chance change their name.

Indeed in 2019 - i got the whole thing - application, confirmation, ceremony and passport in 5 weeks time. DIA is a unmitigated disaster now - This snail paced processing seems to have other reasons what they state (govts always do that - outward flight of skilled labour might be the real reason esp. when borders were closed) - hope opening of borders might give the govt. some leeway.

anyways Thanks for the info. πŸ‘

Handsomedan:

I applied in August 2021 (for some reason I thought it was June) and at the time was advised it'd be 15-18 months.

Based on what I am seeing here, I'd say it's more like 8-12 months

I applied Aug 2021 too, Hopefully we are not that far away.

I am still waiting for my approval letter , I asked officer and he said waiting final police check to come back , I think police check a bit slow because of  increase of allocated applicant and also once of resident visa applications (just my speculation)

Hi All,

My timeline:

  1. Applied on 24th Feb 2021
  2. Case officer contacted for new photo and redo online identity check on 2nd Feb 2022 (11 months and 9 days since submitting application)
  3. Case officer requested for personal details confirmation via email on 3rd Feb 2022 (11 months and 10 days since submitting application)
  4. Citizenship approved email on 15th Feb 2022 (11 months and 22 days since submitting application)
  5. Citizenship certificate will be printed on 8th March 2022 email on 18th Feb 2022 (11 months and 25 days since submitting application)

So if I calculate the timeline from 24th Feb 2021 to 8th March 2022, it will be 12 month and 12 days.

Thankfully the passport application timeframe is 15 to 20 working days πŸ™‚

Good luck everyone with your application. Hope the timeline reduces as suggested by DIA by mid this year or sooner 🍻

Congrats Man , so just 12 days between confirm details for you , that's good

I applied on 10 of February case officer was allocated on 22 of December according to DIA call Center but did not hear anything yet. I am not sure what is going on? I called DIA few times and every time I call them they say that my case is currently assessing.

Kia ora,

Thank you for your email.

Your application is currently being assessed by a case officer.

If there are any issues with the application, the case officer will be in contact with you.

Most applicants will be advised of the outcome from their application within 11 to 13 months of submitting a correct and complete application.

If you applied using the paper application form, you will be posted a letter confirming your approval.

For any other enquiries please reply to this email, visit our website www.govt.nz, or contact us by phone.

Hi I'm new here. I applied for citizenship on 26 Feb 2021.

Got email for confirmation of details Jan 13th 2022. Still waiting on an answer. Been fairly patient and only started calling to query how long an outcome will take after its been over a month since I confirmed my details. I've also noticed people getting approved in less than a month. This week marks a year since I applied.

Was advised recently that applications can take 12-14 months.
