CeeloNZ: Hi I'm new here. I applied for citizenship on 26 Feb 2021.

Got email for confirmation of details Jan 13th 2022. Still waiting on an answer. Been fairly patient and only started calling to query how long an outcome will take after its been over a month since I confirmed my details. I've also noticed people getting approved in less than a month. This week marks a year since I applied.

Was advised recently that applications can take 12-14 months.

I don't know what happen they become so slow giving approval after confirm details since start of this year

Are you also still waiting? When did u apply?

15th of March 2021 , I got confirm email on 27th of Jan , I am still waiting I was hoping this week, but maybe next week

Sounds like they must be working on Feb and March applicants. Does anyone know what checks they are doing after confirmation of details?

so before they confirm details , they make sure you meet presence requirement and basic character check from ministry of justice , then send confirm details and check with govt agencies (IRD,NZTA ,WINZ, etc)

after that send it to validation team then send it to approval ,

when I emailed my officer he told me, just police check remain , I think the one related to infringement and fines history , because police clearance certificate(criminal check) come from ministry of justice. then he will send it to validation.

criminal record check is first one is from ministry of justice , other one is Police infringement history is from police , maybe there is other check I don't know about , this what I think , not 100% sure

but I am sure criminal record check happen before Police infringement history

The standard timeframe on the website after allocation of the case to the case officer is 1-2 months. So soon you will hear too.

Wow thanks for the information. It really sounds like a lengthy process. This week makes 6 weeks since confirmation, so hoping to hear something soon.

I applied in person at the old Manukau office which has since closed and moved. Don't know if paper applications are taking longer, seems like it.

I just went to check my mail box 10 minutes ago to check if I got something from DIA ,

and I found letter that say I got approved on 22/Feb/2022.

so I applied on 15/March/2021 paper application in Auckland

Thanks , I sent an email to them and it will be printed on 11th of March , so in 2 weeks I can apply for passport
