Handle9: If you are using a starter you are just multiplying the yeast yourself in the starter. It’s got other benefits too but it’s just using freshly grown yeast instead of dried yeast.

I like the idea, however, feeding another thing in my house seems like it may not work that well. I'd likely forget. We don't eat a lot of bread, so as much as I like the idea of starters, it would likely mostly go to waste.

one often makes a starter fresh before making the bread (the poolish above is an example of this).  The length of time a starter is proved for, the amount of yeast, flour and water, the temperature , the amount of oxygen and (as pointed out already) time all affect the flavour.   For example, baguettes and pan rustico use a 24 hour starter (pre-ferment) - some pizza doughs use a 10 hour cold ferment.

I think a Sourdough is slightly different, the starter made from this is called a Levain.

Where has all the Woolworth's "own brand" ice cream gone? It was always our go-to after Tip Top, but locally, all their freezers seem full of Much Moore Premium ice cream and Tip Top Moments. In my opinion Much Moore Premium has an odd after-taste and Moments doesn't meet the definition of ice cream anyway.

Do you mean Countdown-brand or Woolworths-brand?  Since the rehash there seem to be a lot more Australian products on the shelves, including replacing the Craigs plum jam with some Australian garbage where three different people, in a blind test, couldn't identify what it was they were eating beyond "some sort of sugary jelly".

Good point, but having retrieved the lid of an old 2L carton of Hokey Pokey from the cupboard of "these containers will come in handy one day", it only had the green stylised "W" as branding. However, it did say "New Zealand Made" and in fine print "Made in New Zealand, Packed for Woolworths", followed by both Australian & NZ addresses and phone numbers. So that kind of gives the impression that Woolworths/Countdown NZ was previously making it for both countries.

Why does the reusable Woolworths/Countdown bag have four loops - one in the middle of each side? in addition to the usual two carry handles in the usual place

I think those allowed them to attach the bags to the turntable bagging thing at the checkout. Only remember there being two loops, though.

Why can't they make children's car seats out of a material that lasts longer than 10 years?  Like...I dunno... the stuff that's used for most of the car interior itself.

It's not about the material. It's about changing safety standards.

What was considered safe 10 years ago, may not be considered best practice now etc.

How long do amalgam fillings last? I have one which must be 25 years old and the tooth has been sensitive over the past few days...

Where are all these small flies coming from?

(Apart from the obvious 'when a mummy fly and a daddy fly...').

I'd recommend the guage and don't let it get to the point where either is an issue for peace of mind.

Depends on how well you know your car

My accord i can go about 100-120km on the fuel light, which comes on about 3 small bars above the E, which is about 1/12th of the total gauge.

I've seen my fuel "light" (which is actually on-screen text) once, and when I filled up I calculated that there was still about 8 litres in the tank. It definitely errs on the side of caution.

Only if it's unavoidable. If you've ever run out of Fuel, it's not something you want to experience twice.
