netspanner: naturally metservice never give anything away. Lucky I made my own.

You made your own? Is it up anywhere?

No, Laughing metservice wouldn't like it, and its purely functional.
Here is it above a widget that shows the last txt message that comes into the phone. (Still working on that nearly finished will include voice activation) Up refers to the change in temp, the temp turns pink for warmer and blue for colder (Up is redundant and needs to be removed) Its updated by touching the weather icon but could easily be updated automatically.

Jaxson:

Just to be clear, is this something different from the existing iPad metservice app?

Yes, this is brand new app for iPhone and Android, quite different from the iPad app.

What's different about it?

The iPad app is a pain with the info and 10 day data in that little section and requires tapping to change etc.

I guess that's different in the major centres, but for Palmerston North it's tiny given the rest of the screen real estate that's not used at the time.

The background rain/water running animation is very cool though, when it rains.

Take a look at screenshots and info when it goes live on the store.

Purchased from the play store, and it looks good, except it is raining at the moment, and the forecast is for 'Fine, chance cloud tonight'.
Also, I am in Porirua, so I would have expected Porirua's forecast, and not Wellingtons.

Hi guys - the daily forecast is a forecast for the day ahead, not for right now (or the middle of the night, as in your case!).

Try the hourly forecasts for short-term use, and of course the rain radar is pretty reliable too!!!

Glad you think it looks good - we're pretty stoked with the reaction thus far.

Cheers
Jacqui

Sorry, to clarify. iPhone only as in not iPad, or universal.
So to use on iPad means scaling the app, no landscape support, thus I will not buy.

Cheers,
Joseph

Fair enough - download the iPad app or scale our mobile site - even our full site looks great and works well on an iPad.

Cheers

Hi Jacqui

Lovely app, but I do have one problem. I am in ChCh and have Location Services on, and also on for the app. But when I start it, it opens up on Wellington. If the phone goes to sleep, and I wake it, the busy icon is revolving, and it changes to ChCh. It appears that its not refreshing Location Services on startup. That being the case, why does it default to Wellington and how can I change that? Or can it refresh to the GPS upon startup?
