ilovemusic: what is it with phamarcies and contact lense products ?

years back when gst went up from 12.5% to 15%, a local pharmacy repriced some lense products with a 20-30% increase and thought no one would notice.

I recall consumer did a name and shame when companies put prices up by more than the gst rise last time. I didn't come across any companies I deal with that did, infact many comapnies seem to have either absorbed it, or retained their gst exclusive price.

businesses can price their products however they want.

It's only if they claim the price increase was down to GST would it be something shady.

Our decision does not prevent you from taking your own action. Only the courts can ultimately decide whether any conduct breaches the Act. The Fair Trading Act specifically provides for action by individuals, even when the Commission has decided not to take any action.
