spronkey: Well... lets see if I can remember...

Nokia 252 in 1999
Nokia 5120i in 2001
Nokia 3315 in 2002
Nokia 7250 in 2003
Nokia 2280 in 2003
Sony w995 in 2009 (wow, big gap there... those two Nokias lasted me forever!)
Nokia 3210 Classic in 2009 (I hated the w995)
iPhone 4 in 2011
Nexus 5 in 2014
iPhone 5 in 2015

Of all the phones above, only the 3315 and Nexus 5 died. The 3315 dropped into a toilet, and the Nexus 5 I still have, but with a broken screen from a <30cm drop (sigh).

I stopped being able to justify spending more money on smartphones, and opted for a second hand iPhone 5, basically because my iPhone 4 was just too slow with iOS 7.

Interestingly the iPhone 5 came with iOS 6, which is so, so, so much faster than iOS 8 it isn't even funny. I wish you could downgrade, because I remember iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 being really usable, and really fast, for the things I use smartphone for (web, maps, twitter, email). Unfortunately on iOS it's difficult to stay far behind if you use e.g. banking apps, or productivity apps that cut off their older versions :(

Its intriguing how Apple ruin performance with OS upgrades, "encouraging" users to buy new hardware

And people come back for more

My iPad 2 is exactly the same, since the iOS8 upgrade I don't use it as its too slow

And I cant downgrade because, Apple...

I'm on about 12 in 18 years... from an old Motorola brick, Nokia brand loyal through the 90's with a new phone every year (or I'll take my £30/month contract to 'x' who'll give me it if I switch-gotta love inter-network number transferals nowadays!) and was finally converted when passed down an old iphone3g 8gb and have surfed the 2nd hand iPhone wave ever since. $10 MADE upgrading to a 4 16gb, Made another $25 upgrading to a 4S 32gb, and recently spent (lost) $30 upgrading to a 5 64gb ($300)

Doncha just LOVE Trademe 'buy now' :D

If you got a big phone and are stupid enough to put it in your back pocket, you are probably not going to moan about it on Geekzone ;)

hmmm no idea but started off with the Motorola brick (company phone) back in the late 80's or early 90's. Too many in between to count but heaps of nokia's, motorola's and HTC's. Loved my HTC Apache my haven't we moved on from those ones. Had a coupe of Kyocera's with Palm OS in early 2000's.

Not as smart as what we have now but would surprise a few young ones that think Apple invented smart phones

Galaxy S10

Garmin  Fenix 5

From memory, dont think Ive missed any, in order

Philips Fizz

Vodafone Maxon
SE T28
Nokia 3210
Nokia 7110 (cos of the matrix)
Nokia 8210
Moto MPx200
Moto Razr
Sony Ericsson T610
Huawei G300
LG Optimus One
HTC One X
HTC One M8

generally upgraded due to breaking the previous one or having some function stop working. Only upgrades which were not required because of hardware was because of the matrix making it look cool and then more recently the one x to one m8 because missus broke her phone - i upgraded mine so she could have the one x.
