Common sense is not as common as you think.

My theory is the person behind this does not intend to or hope to harm babies. They are hoping to cause panic and disrupt the supply chain. If China get worried and cancel their baby powder imports it's a huge hit to the economy. Dairy is something like 7% of GDP and 25% of our export dollars.

John Key's 'terrorist' line does seem sensationalist, but eco-terrorism is apt IMO.

Eco-terrorism is defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as "the use or threatened use of violence of a criminal nature against people or property by an environmentally oriented, subnational group for environmental-political reasons, or aimed at an audience beyond the target, often of a symbolic nature."

NZ accounts for around 35% of the Worlds Dairy trade a $11billion earner for NZ, something like this could wreck that and the flow on into the economy would be huge and would send us into a deep recession.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

There, this is a good point and yes this would be of national significance.

Even a hoax could make some of our markets nervous which is probably why the delay in going public. I believe the delay has been prudent given the ramifications.

Good to see some sanity coming to the fore.

Some handy posting tips for those that are desperate for a conspiracy theory. When posting, remember to use bold frequently to emphasise your point. Another GOOD WAY of getting YOUR POINT across is a LIBERAL PEPPERING of upper case. If YOUR POINT IS IMPERATIVE mix these two types.

You don't have to be smart to put poison in food and kill lots of people.

I have no idea why I'm dipping my toe into this thread (but I have my tinfoil hat on).  The two groups that contain individuals vehemently opposed to the use of 1080 and who refuse to acknowledge the science around it are Greens and Deerstalkers.  The only other motive I can see is someone with a grudge against Fontera.

Personally i was disappointed i didnt see the Green party being interviewed on TV about this.

If they are seen to criticise this anti 1080 nutter, it removes any layer of legitimacy the perpetrator may claim to justify their actions.

I say this because some Green members have supported illegal actions in the past for causes they believe in.

Surely, you can see a contradiction here.

First, you mention 'Science'/evidential approach to using 1080.

Then, without any evidence at all, you attempt to implicate the Green party and Deerstalkers (Association?).

Are you seriously thinking the Green Party is involved in this?

I think the chances of that are almost zero and no higher than any other mainstream political party being involved.

/edit.. as a followup on the Green Party's view on 1080 poison..

  https://home.greens.org.nz/press-releases/dunnes-proposal-ban-1080-unworkable

  https://home.greens.org.nz/features/more-and-better-pest-control-1080-last-resort

New Zealand First and United Futures (i.e. Peter Dunne) appear to be the only mainstream political parties opposed to 1080.

The only thing there is here is you attempting to put words in my mouth.  I didn't say the Green Party and I didn't say the Deerstalkers Association.
