joker97: everything has sugar ... especially fruit "juices" ... about the same amount as coke ....

The thing about fruit juice, is everyone thinks it is all natural and unprocessed. But unless it is fresh squeezed stuff, much of it goes through a lot of processing. This story shed more light on some of the processing it goes through, http://www.medicaldaily.com/truth-about-orange-juice-concentrate-not-concentrate-juices-only-minimally-better-soda-268915 Radio NZ did a similar story on it. I don't drink orange juice.

Another thing about fruit juice is that it's easy to drink say a litre of fruit juice in a day - which would take you way way over a reasonable/recommended daily intake of fructose, but rather unlikely that anybody in their right mind would routinely consume the equivalent quantity of whole fruit (several kg).

Chocolate could sit on my desk all year and I wouldn't touch it, it's not that I don't like it, Whittakers is tasty I just don't eat it. It's the same with Chocolate drinks

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

JayADee: Off topic a bit I know but my hubby brought home some Lewis Road Creamery chocolate milk as a treat and it was pretty good.

Just don't look at the sugar content...! ;-)

I deliberately didn't. Or the fat. I also told him not to buy it again, but I've been craving it ever since.

"Fruit juice" labels often claim to have "no added sugar" - but they usually contain a lot of processed apple juice, which is basically sugar-water.

I'm eating my hat again. On geekzone that is.

Just bought a tin. Smells foul. Made a drink. Kids rejected them. I tasted it. Tastes rank.

I'm so sorry for belittling other people. Esp tube fed child.

I'm going to try and return this tin.

That's probably the best approach. Perhaps if they have grumpy retailers because of the return rate, as well as tanking sales, they might get the message?

I suspect that if you got it at one of the major supermarket chains and clearly haven't consumed much then they will take it back and refund you with little fuss.

It's unlikely losing sales will make them reverse course. Cadbury must have lost over 80% of their Creme Egg sales when they ruined the product on the NZ market but that wasn't enough. Corporate politics.

I think it is naive to think that these big multinationals are making the  changes solely the good of NZers. If you want a healthy drink, just drink water. If you want vitamins, eat fruit, veges and meat.

Where are these naive people? :-)  Is there someone who actually believes that?

Wife drinks the stuff so I decided to do a 'blind test'. There was only a small amount of the old in her container so I saved that and subbed in some of her new formula packet. She has been drinking it for 3 days and hasn't noticed any difference! Guess we can say she is not 'disgusted' with this new 'rank' version!

In her case, move on, nothing to see here.

I've drank it a few more times. Didn't get time to return it and face an angry manager.

1) it smells foul compared to older one - Not blinded test
2) if you ignore the smell it tastes ok. But the older one is much sweeter and not at all "malty"

Which one do i prefer?
I don't drink Milo. So i don't care. I hope my kids don't figure it out ...

It really seems like Milo has committed suicide here.

They've had to make it it really cheap to try and sell it

And they're being so stubborn saying they will not be changing it back

We have a hot milk Milo each night before going to bed. Just started the new stuff.
Kids refuse to drink it, and I have started putting a spoonful of sugar in it to make it drinkable. Never needed to add sugar before.
Won't buy Milo again, so they have lost a long time customer here.
Wife bought some Avalanche Drinking Chocolate today. Kids love it.
Not sure yet if I will suffer through the new Milo until it is finished, or bin it?
